Publicity - rabbing congressional inquiries into television
news focused on the wrong problems of the industry. They also came
39 years too late.
Rep. Edward Markey's subcommittee on telecommunications
ordered the investigation to examine the impact of changing
ownership of the three networks on their news broadcasts. "The
networks are not just like any other corporation," Markey said.
"They are unique because they are the primary information providers
to the American people."
Americans have been shortchanged since the first network news
