RESIDENTIAL HILLS OF BOSTON
Bellevue Hill has an identity problem. It is Boston's highest
hill and one of the city's most pleasant neighborhoods. But except
for those who live there, few people know where it is.
Residents of Bunker Hill, Beacon Hill and other well-known
Boston elevations freely explain the location of their homes by
naming the hill where they live. But ask Bellevue Hill residents
what part of the city they are from and they'll usually reply,
"West Roxbury," assuming the listener would not know where Bellevue
Hill is.
"More Boston people know where Fourth Cliff in Scituate is
than where Bellevue Hill is," said one of the hill's estimated
3,000 residents.
