CAMBRIDGE - Harvard president Derek C. Bok yesterday
exhorted graduating seniors to recreate the spirit of the Great
Society under President Lyndon B. Johnson and to devote their
energies to helping solve society's problems.
Bok spoke to more than 700 of the 1,569 graduating seniors
during the traditional baccalaureate service at Memorial Church, an
opportunity to recall the college's religious roots, and for Bok
and others to deliver inspirational messages to the seniors.
The service was part of a series of events this week leading
to commencement tomorrow. In addition to Bok, Radcliffe president
Matina Horner spoke and students read lessons and prayers.
