Eclecticism" is the slogan of art in the '80's, and the big E
rears its head again in the annual show of drawings by
Massachusetts artists at the Mills Gallery of the Boston Center
for the Arts, where there is one of almost every sort of drawing
style imaginable. The show, up through July 25, is the eighth in a
series that aims to reaffirm drawing as a common denominator in the
visual arts and an important art in its own right. Commercial
galleries aren't, on the whole, interested in doing this, since
drawings usually fetch far less than paintings.
The show was organized by guest curator Lasse Antonsen,
director of the gallery at Southeastern Massachusetts University.
