SMITHFIELD, R.I. - The Patriots told Larry Linne to stay in
shape. So the kid from Midland, Texas, got a job working for a
valet parking firm in Dallas. They told him to keep his mind on
football. So the 6-foot-1-inch, 185-pound wide receiver out of
Texas-El Paso got a job as a junior varsity football coach.
They told him to show up for his second training camp this
week for one more try at finding a spot on a team that has
receivers such as Stanley Morgan, Irving Fryar, Stephen Starring
and Cedric Jones.
With a wife back in Dallas, a child on the way and nothing
more than a plane ticket as a guarantee, Linne could have politely
