QUINCY - In 1920, a quiet young woman with a meticulous memory
came to serve as the secretary at the old homestead that had been
purchased in 1788 by John Adams, second president of the United
States, and his wife, Abigail.
On Tuesday,members of the Adams clan and others who have
worked with Wilhelmina Sellers Harris gathered to celebrate her
contribution in preserving the home occupied by four generations of
Adamses.
At 91, her mind and memory sharp although her health is
fragile, Harris retired this week as the longest serving
superintendent and the oldest in the National Park Service, which
now operates and administers the Adams National Historic site.
