Mary F. (Mahoney) Ruel of Dedham and Mattapoisett, a retired
sales representative for Filene's, died Thursday in Charlwell
Nursing Home, Norwood, after a long illness. She was 89.
Mrs. Ruel was born in Boston and graduated from Fisher College
in 1918.
In 1919, she became a sales representative for Filene's,
working from her home for 27 years before her retirement in 1946.
She was known as Miss Lane during her years at Filene's Boston
store, and was also in charge of fur storage.
After her retirement, Mrs. Ruel was a freelance artist for the
Russ Craft Greeting Card Co., Boston.
During World War II, she was a Red Cross volunteer. She was
