It's not yet time to call it a summer when you note that the
Metropolitan District Commision will present "The Genius of Soul,"
Ray Charles and his orchestra in a free concert Saturday evening,
Sept. 12, at 8 at the Hatch Shell. Performing from 6-7 p.m. on the
banks of the Charles will also be the US Air Force Academy Band
from Colorado Springs.
There will be a strict ban on alcoholic beverages, parking
along the Esplanade, overnight camping prior to the concert and
hibachis or any open fire. Storrow Drive will be closed to
vehicular traffic at 5 p.m. on the day of the concert.
On Tuesday Ron Della Chiesa celebrated the 10th anniversary
of "MusicAmerica," the popular Monday-Friday ...
