HOUSTON - He has been living on borrowed time in Irving Fryar's jersey. When the striking Patriot regulars come back today, Larry Linne's name gets scratched from the starting lineup forever. He has no illusions about that, even after he made the catch of the season to score New England's first touchdown against the Oilers yesterday.

"They've got five really good receivers," Linne said. "I don't see any chance of being here at all. I've talked to the coaches about it and they say that even if they add extra people, they'll add at other positions. So this was probably my last hurrah, but it was a big bang going out."
