PROVO, Utah - Last night's Celtics-Jazz game at the Marriott
Center on the campus of Brigham Young University was played before
the largest crowd ever to witness an NBA exhibition game.
A crowd approaching 23,000 came to see three BYU alumni and to
see Larry Bird. It is known that the contract for this game called
for the Celtics to start Danny Ainge, Greg Kite and Fred Roberts,
and that there was a floor figure for Bird's minutes. Those are not
unreasonable requests for the Celtics to fulfill when they are set
to walk off with a handsome payday.
Karl Malone is poised for a great year. The brutish Jazz power
forward, whose stated post-career ambition is to become "Mr.
Olympia," ...
