The shot? The shot! It is heard, not seen. "It's all
genetically inherited," said Brett Hull, who is on the brink of
becoming the famous hockey son of a famous hockey father.
It is the thrust of a missile, launched from anywhere on the
ice. "It can come from the slot, it can come from the point, it
can come from 100 feet away, it can come from the press box, even,"
said coach Terry Crisp of the Calgary Flames. It is a blur. "He
has the knack of getting it on net from odd angles, odd places,"
Crisp said. "He doesn't have to tee it up . . . it's on the blade
of his stick -- and it's gone."
