The boycott against Coors beer in the Boston area
effectively ended yesterday when organizers announced a new Coors
corporate policy prohibiting discrimination against potential
employees because of race, sexual preference, age, handicap and
other factors.
A national boycott against Coors products ended in August
after the company reached an agreement with the AFL-CIO to allow
union recruiters into their plant.
But Boston District City Councilor David M. Scondras (Back
Bay-Beacon Hill- Fenway-Mission Hill), who was instrumental in
negotiating the nondiscrimination policy with Coors, members of a
local union and black community leaders continued the boycott in
