It took Sister Rita Murray 15 minutes of tears and a walk
around St. Ambrose Church in Dorchester yesterday before she could
put away memories of the old church, where as a child she had
attended daily Mass, and enter the new building.
Rev. Thomas F. Motherway, formerly an assistant pastor at St.
Ambrose, visited the parish for the first time since a devastating
car accident two years ago that has confined him to a wheelchair.
As he was greeted warmly by parishioners, Father Motherway confided
that he missed the gothic beauty of the old church.
Mary Ambrose, a parishioner for 60 years whose children were
all baptized in St. Ambrose, recalled that her two sons had served
