In the beginning was the peanut, which has been cultivated
domestically for at least 3,000 years. Thereafter came peanut
butter - one of man's greatest sources of gustatory and nutritional
satisfaction. Presumably peanut butter cookies came soon thereafter
that.
Peanut butter cookies may not be first choice among cookie
lovers who rate chocolate chip or oatmeal raisin higher, but peanut
butter cookies have a certain down home appeal. Childhood comfort
food. As in peanut butter cookies and a glass of milk. With lots of
telltale crumbs left on the kitchen table for mom to wipe up.
