THE CLEVELAND ORCHESTRA, Christoph von Dohnanyi,
conductor, in a concert presented by the Wang Celebrity
Series in Symphony Hall last night.
Each year since Christoph von Dohnanyi became music director the
Cleveland Orchestra has come to Symphony Hall with a more demanding
program. Last night it was so again, and the orchestra triumphed
once more.
The opening work continued Boston's mini-festival of works by
Witold Lutoslawski with the local premiere of "Chain 2" (which had
its American premiere last summer by the student orchestra at
Tanglewood with BSO violinist Ronan Lefkowitz as soloist).
Lutoslawski has three works (so far) entitled "Chain." The title
