GOFFSTOWN, N.H. - Missouri Rep. Richard Gephardt's advocacy of
an oil import levy, his support of Ronald Reagan's 1981 tax cuts
and off-color comments by his campaign manager about Tennessee Sen.
Albert Gore Jr. came under attack yesterday in the last Democratic
debate before Tuesday's New Hampshire primary.
But Gephardt, under assault, struck back, questioning
Illinois Sen. Paul Simon's consistency in opposing Social Security
cuts, suggesting that Simon and Massachusetts Gov. Dukakis might
raise income taxes, and observing in the midst of the attacks on
him,"I'm beginning to feel after this I'll be ready for Bob ...
