RICHLAND, Wash.-- Life in this small desert town has been comfortable for Annette Heriford. She grew up in the area, went away to college and in 1947 returned here to rear a family.

In her years here, Heriford has had an opportunity to see her son play high school sports and her daughter become active in community affairs. She has had a chance to watch her grandchildren grow up, healthy and strong.
