The popular media should rank high on any list of parasites
deriving nourishment from the poor.
I think it was Irving Kristol who said that for the
sensationalist liberal press their "sanctimonious compassion has
always been a key element in their professional self-definition."
Bashing the bourgeoisie and the rich is a means of obtaining
certification, not to mention circulation.
These thoughts are occasioned by the television coverage
during the weekend of a rally on Boston Common on behalf of the
government of Nicaragua, a poverty-stricken, earthquake-wracked
Central American nation of 2.25 million situated between the ports
of Savannah, Galveston and New Orleans and the Panama Canal.
