Right-wing Salvadorans operating inside the United States
are apparently responsible for a series of death threats and
break-ins, and in two cases for abductions and torture, aimed at
opponents of the Reagan administration's Central America policies,
according to victims, attorneys and other sources familiar with the
events.
Several death threats received by political and
refugee-assistance groups opposed to those policies -- including
four last month -- have been signed with the names of known
Salvadoran death squads. Most of the episodes attributed to
anticommunist Salvadorans occurred in California and Texas.
