Noel Staples, like 150 other working Boston parents, sends her
son to Commonwealth Day School, a Back Bay private school, because
she believes the instruction and environment is superior to that
provided in public schools.
But last month the parents were notified that the private
school is moving to Cambridge and that tuition subsidies provided
by the state Department of Social Services will not be available at
the new location.
On Wednesday night, about 50 parents and eight Commonwealth
Day School teachers, most of whom teach preschoolers, jammed into
the second-floor room at the Roxbury Boys and Girls Club to voice
their concerns about the move.
