CUAUTLA, Mexico - Night was approaching, accompanied by an angry storm, and the soldiers were fidgeting with their guns in the indifferent manner of soldiers across Central America. The plaza before them was littered with charred automobiles and unmatched shoes. It could have been a scene from the aftermath of a massacre, but the "soldiers" were actors, the autos and shoes were props, part of a movie being shot in this little town in central Mexico.

Rev. Ellwood Kieser was watching it all unfold from a nearby church and explaining how hard it was for a priest to get financial backers for a film about the last days of a slain Central American bishop.
