Cautioning that the results are "unbelievable," a leading
scientific journal today is publishing French experiments
suggesting that a solution of interacting molecules can be diluted
with water almost infinitely, yet still retain a "memory" of the
vanished molecules.
The results suggest that molecular reactions are possible
without molecules, a notion so radical that it challenges
fundamental laws of nature. The researchers said they can scarcely
believe the results themselves.
Although the experiments have been repeated with the same
results by 14 scientists from four countries, the journal Nature
commented that its scientific reviewers have expressed
"incredulity."
