During the nesting season, male robins will sometimes sing in the
pre-dawn, while it is still dark. Mockingbirds will often sing in
the moonlight at any time of night, and even when it is pitch dark
and there's no moon at all. A long, convoluted bird song woke up a
Braintree reader recently at 3 a.m. It had taken him by surprise
but when he finally figured out what was going on he listened to it
in groggy admiration until it lulled him right back into sleep.
