WASHINGTON - Jonas Savimbi, the anticommunist African guerrilla commander, opened a new front last week in his struggle against Angola's Marxist government, reaching out to black Americans and liberals to reinforce imperiled conservative support for continued US military assistance to his UNITA forces.
