One of the great artists of the century will be profiled Monday
night on 9 on Channels 2 and 36.
Lillian Gish, also known as "the first lady of the silent
screen," is the subject of an "American Masters" presentation.
"American Masters," presented by WNET/New York, is a nine-week
series of profiles celebrating the lives and achievements of some
of the country's native-born and adopted "masters" in the creative
arts.
The series provides new and original programming during the
traditional summer repeat season. This summer's originals include a
two-part program, "A Duke Named Ellington," July 18 and 25, a
musical retrospective of the pianist/composer/band leader
