PUERTO RICAN FESTIVAL FLAVORED BY MUSIC, GAMES, ETHNIC DISHES

Hundreds of Boston residents flocked to the Puerto Rican Festival in Roxbury's Derby/Ramsey Park yesterday, capping a four-day celebration of Puerto Rican culture with rides, carnival games, and folk music.

The annual event, which started 21 years ago, commemorates the ratification of the Puerto Rican constitution in 1952, said Antonio Molina, president of the Puerto Rican Festival.

"The festival helps remind our children to remain bilingual and bicultural and to continue to have respect for American culture," Molina said.

To celebrate the signing of the Puerto Rican constitution, a procession of floats and marchers will step off from City Hall at noon today and parade to the park.
