There are so many things to worry about that I hesitate to
introduce thoughts of another. This thing is loathsome in most
every way but is not a threat to our health, only to our peace of
mind. And people with healthy, peaceful minds will not be bothered
at all; only people of imagination can be bothered by these
creatures. As for myself, I am no more concerned with these
loathsome things than I am with radon gas, for instance, though
radon floats up through the granite of New England cellars and can
cause cancer. The particulates in wood smoke are dangerous, too,
but I am unafraid. Lyme disease, carried by a tiny tick, is
advancing northward in New England, but I choose to ignore it. The ...
