Can you tell me something of his personal life?

A. The Encyclopedia Americana says John Purroy Mitchel was born
in New York City on July 19, 1879 (the World Book Encyclopedia
narrows his birthplace to the Fordham section of the Bronx). The
grandson of Irish revolutionist John Mitchel, Mitchel graduated
from Columbia University in 1899 and New York Law School two years
later....
