Some surprisingly intemperate remarks about President Clinton
by commentator David Brinkley as ABC News's election night coverage
wound down may have jeopardized plans for an interview with the
president Sunday on Brinkley's final broadcast as moderator of his
public affairs show.
The 76-year-old Brinkley crankily referred to the newly
reelected president as "a bore" and to his speeches as full of
"goddamn nonsense."
He was to have interviewed Clinton at the White House tomorrow
for the farewell broadcast, which also marks the 15th anniversary of
"This Week With David Brinkley."
