Article: Bulbs in Containers; Bringing Spring to the Patio and Balcony

Cultivating spring-flowering bulbs in containers outdoors is a splendid alternative way of enjoying these beauties.

For people who live in apartments with balconies or have small, shady patios, bulbs in pots will bring all the gaiety and color of the spring landscape in pint-sized gardens.

They are useful too for bulb fans who already have crammed daffodils, hyacinths, crocuses and whatever else tickles their fancy into every square inch of bed in the yard. And bulbs in containers have another advantage: Once they have gone over, the fading foliage can be hidden by moving the pots and planters, or planting annuals in their place.
