WHITMAN - Jon Hollis wasn't even born when the Titanic struck an
iceberg and sank in the Atlantic Ocean on April 14, 1912.
But he knows the ship, its fateful voyage, its victims and
survivors almost intimately. Hollis, a 50-year-old Whitman native,
has made the Titanic his life's passion.
He communicates regularly with survivors, and has attended
their reunions. He trades tidbits with other Titanic groupies
around the world. He hauls his slides and scrapbooks to schools and
civic groups to keep the memory alive.
He served as a consultant to the movie, "Raise the Titanic,"
starring Jason Robards and came to like the gruff actor --
