Venezuelan-born Carolina Herrera, who is as beautiful as the
models who wear her designs in the New York fashion shows, does not
apologize when she says, "I wear a lot of perfume."
She poured it on, she said, even when the perfume was not her
own blend, with her name on the bottle, which is selling for $225
an ounce in major stores around the country. It is unusual, on an
airplane trip, she said, for people not to ask her what perfume she
is wearing, because "always, before I go out the door, I go like
this (she sprayed herself with an imaginary bottle of perfume) all
over."
