EASTON, Pa. - Forget about Lockbaum. In the past two weeks,
Holy Cross has gone from Gordie to grody.
The Crusaders lost their second straight yesterday, 28-20, to
Colonial League rival Lafayette. The defeat, Holy Cross' first in
three years of league play, snapped a 21-game Division 1-AA winning
streak. Holy Cross trailed by three touchdowns at halftime and
scored its last TD with three seconds left. Any memories of last
year's 11-0 record were buried at rainy Fisher Field.
"We're a better football team than we've shown yet," said
Crusader coach Mark Duffner, now 22-3 at Holy Cross. "I believe
that. We've just got to make it happen."
