Boston's black community - as with most inner-city neighborhoods
-- is overdosing on senseless killings, school dropouts, teen-age
pregnancies, and drug-dealing "heroes."
But there is much more about the city's Roxbury, Dorchester
and Mattapan neighborhoods than what we often read, hear or talk
about. There are people living here who are trying to breathe life
back into the community, people who know what their neighborhoods
are going through, because they had had similar struggles. But they
survived to help save others headed for early death, or a living
hell on the streets.
These are the real heroes that all too few of us read, hear
