Article: STAKEOUT NABS FUGITIVE ACCUSED IN LOWELL KILLING

Richard (Dukey) Kenney, who had been a fugitive for five months after being charged with the murder of Lowell bookmaker John (Jackie) McDermott, was arrested last night when he walked out of a house in East Boston and found the barrels of 20 police officers' guns pointed at him.

State Police investigators who tracked him said Kenney, a convicted bank robber, had grown a beard and was wearing a Boston Police Department baseball cap when captured, apparently in an attempt to disguise his identity. He surrendered without a struggle and was not armed, police said.

An East Boston man was arrested alongside Kenney and charged with harboring him.
