One of the best free guides to student travel is the 68-page
booklet put out by the Council on International Educational
Exchange.
The guide offers condensed information on everything a budget
traveler needs to know, from the value of obtaining a $10
international ID to work-abroad programs, passports, visas,
discounts, car rentals and study programs. New this year is a
24-hour emergency telephone service included with the international
ID, which is also available to teachers. There is also a listing of
books on teen-age travel, volunteering, low-cost lodging and, of
course, the bible for student travelers -- the "Let's Go" series
put out by Harvard Student Agencies.
