Lonnie L. Gilchrist Jr., the former stockbroker accused of
gunning down his former boss at Merrill Lynch six months ago, was
released yesterday afternoon from Charles Street Jail after his
family posted $50,000 cash bail.
"It's the right thing to do," said Norman Zalkind, an attorney
representing Gilchrist. "It took us a long time, but we got
together the money."
Gilchrist is scheduled to return to court Jan. 27, the date
his trial on a charge of first-degree murder is tentatively set to
begin. In the meantime, said Zalkind, Gilchrist will remain in
Boston at a location he declined to disclose.
