MILTON - For Hyman and Frances Freeman, both near age 80, the loss of their house didn't hurt as much as knowing the identity of the person they say took it -- their son.

An immaculate gray Cape with white trim, the house on Lyman Road had been home to the retired fruit seller and his wife for 15 years, until, they say, their son, Leonard, 52, persuaded them the family would save money on inheritance taxes if they conveyed it to him.

They did, on the conditions that Leonard would give them a 25-year lease, maintain the property and return it to them if they grew uncomfortable with the arrangement. None of the promises were kept, the couple said.
