Article: SALEM CITY TARGETED FOR REVITALIZATION GROUP HOPES IT CAN FOLLOW LOWELL AS NATIONAL HISTORIC URBAN PARK

SALEM - A survey team of historians, planners, a graphic artist, an archeologist and a landscape architect is scouring Salem this week as part of a comprehensive project to revitalize the city and make it the North Shore center for tourism, banking and legal services.

Members of the Salem Partnership -- a group of about 40 people from varied backgrounds who are behind the project -- hope it will culminate in Salem's designation as a national historic urban park, a distinction attained by Lowell in 1978.
