Article: VIRUS FOUND IN PACKAGED SOFTWARE

NEW YORK - Another virus has been discovered in packaged computer software, raising further concerns about the safety of commercially available programs.

The latest virus was not dangerous and was spotted after only about 400 copies of the software had been shipped, but it highlighted again the vulnerability of software producers to viruses.

"This is widespread. This is affecting the biggest names in software publishing you can think of right now, across the board," said Dr. Bruce Tizes, a director and owner of MacGuide magazine in Lakewood, Colo.
