The Angels, playing the Red Sox at Angel Stadium on Sunday, are
on their third postseason run in four years. The American League
West division champions are outside of the shadow of the Dodgers,
who have traded places with the Angels as the region's not-so-
lovable losers.
We have to wonder if Long Beach and surrounding towns like
Lakewood, Downey, Bellflower and Seal Beach are backing the Angels
these days. Though Long Beach sits at the foot of Los Angeles
County, Angel Stadium is closer than Dodger Stadium to Long Beach.
But team affiliations are about more than geography. East Long
Beach certainly shares traits with Orange County, and sits on the
