Conservative talker Rush Limbaugh ignited a still-burning firestorm when he called American soldiers who advocate U.S. withdrawal from Iraq "phony soldiers" during the Sept. 26 broadcast of his nationally syndicated radio show. A caller said on-air that supporters of withdrawal "never talk to real soldiers. They like to pull these soldiers that come up out of the blue and talk to the media," to which Limbaugh interjected, "The phony soldiers."
