BROOKLINE - The strategy is simple: Ed Pinckney is thrilled to be a Boston Celtic, so as far as he's concerned, he's never been anything else.

"I'm going to totally forget about the past three years," said Pinckney after yesterday's workout at Hellenic College, where he tomahawked a handful of dunks over the heads of various teammates. "It never happened. I have a totally new attitude about basketball. I'm not going to get down on myself if we lose a game, and I'm going to play as hard as I can.

"Looking back to what's happened in my career, I know now you've got to play hard and play smart. That if something goes wrong, forget it and go on to the next thing."
