The Southern Maine men's basketball team is flying high as it
heats up for the Final Eight in the NCAA Division 3 tournament.
Saturday, the fourth-seeded Huskies edged No. 2 seed Western
Connecticut, 90-88, in the Northeast Regional final to gain a
quarterfinal berth in the national tourney.
Southern Maine will host Franklin and Marshall (27-2) Saturday
at Gorham. If the Huskies win, they will advance to the Final Four
in Wittenberg, Ohio.
The Little East champion, Southern Maine (22-6) has saved its
best for a crucial time. The Huskies have won their last seven and
14 of 16.
