SEATTLE - Seton Hall's victory over Duke in yesterday's
NCAA semifinal marked the first time a team from New Jersey had
reached the national championship game.
The last Garden State team to make the Final Four was Rutgers,
which lost its semifinal to Michigan in 1976. The Scarlet Knights
also lost the consolation game to UCLA.
Princeton is the only other New Jersey team to reach the Final
Four, losing to Michigan in the semifinals in 1965. But the Tigers
won the third-place game, beating Wichita State, 118-82, as Bill
Bradley ended his collegiate career by scoring 58 points.
