BADEN, Switzerland - On Aug. 9, 1847, the Spanischbrotlibahn, Switzerland's first railway, made its maiden voyage from nearby Zurich to the "great baths" of Baden. It traveled four times a day in each direction, took 45 minutes and cost 1.20 Swiss francs. Nowadays, it takes 16 minutes, costs 5.20 francs (about $3.25 US) and makes for an interesting day trip -- one of many you can take from Zurich.
