Boston Ballet has spawned child prodigies: Nina Pilar, Edra Toth
and Joyce Cuoco, all technical wonders early on, come to mind. And
the company has had dancers noted for their expression -- the
recently retired Elaine Bauer -- and their staying power -- Laura
Young, the much-loved charter member of the 25-year-old troupe, who
retires May 21. But Boston Ballet has never had another dancer as
glorious as Marie-Christine Mouis, whose combination of technique
and expression is worldclass and whose womanly sensuality sets her
apart from the emaciated, permanently pubescent look of so many
other dancers.
Mouis is very French on stage: chic, sophisticated, with a
