Daisuke Yasutake's mother crisply adjusted her small son's
bow-tie as Andrew Hostetter practiced smoothly handing a huge
bouquet of flowers to his mother.
Nearby, on the Butler Aviation tarmac at Logan Airport,
hundreds of schoolchildren and others looked skyward for a first
glimpse of the plane carrying Japan's new prime minister to Boston.
A flag-waving, cheering crowd of about 500 Japanese and
Americans were on hand yesterday to greet Prime Minister Toshiki
Kaifu and his wife, Sachiyo, when their private Japan Air Lines
DC-10 landed at 3:10 p.m., launching Kaifu's low-key, two-day visit
to the Boston area.
Kaifu, 58, who assumed power Aug. 9 after his two predecessors
resigned ...
