It's easy to be a theoretical vegetarian. Putting your good
intentions into practice on a consistent basis is a bit more
difficult. It has been for me, anyway.
I know I have only myself to blame for not sticking to a
vegetarian diet, but when I start thinking about why I've failed I
end up pointing the finger at other people. My husband, who thinks
lamb chops are the staff of life. My friends, none of whom is even
close to being vegetarian. My mother, who gets the vapors when I
broach the subject.
There's a tendency to think of vegetarians as weirdos or
cranks, in spite of the fact that in recent years more and more
