NEW KIDS ON THE BLOCK
At: Buffalo Memorial Auditorium, Buffalo, N.Y., last night
BUFFALO, N.Y. - Only a year ago, New Kids on the Block were an
opening act for a Boston Garden date starring the Pointer Sisters
and Jeffrey Osborne. Today they're a national obsession and have
two singles in this week's Top 10 -- the first act to do that since
Madonna in 1984. Not bad for five Dorchester street kids between
the ages of 16 and 20.
In the world of teen mania, New Kids rule. They've got runaway
record sales (four million sold of their "Hangin' Tough" LP) and
jaw-dropping good looks to entice the girls. And now they have a
